ITS is looking for students (who are studying this year) to be part of a team helping students get their own computers set up for use on the University’s network (wireless and wired) and provide general information, advice and support for the student IT services provided by ITS.The positions are rostered in 2-4 hour periods between 9am-9pm Monday-Friday and 10am-5pm Saturday and Sunday. We expect that each person would work 12-18 hours per week depending on people’s availability. The main period of employment will be from the second week of February until Easter. However, further work may be available depending on budget. The positions have been evaluated at level 5.We are looking for people who are familiar with IT and good at working with others. In more detail they should have:* At least one year’s experience of the student computing environment at the University of Otago* Hands-on experience with computers and the systems and applications in common use at the University.
* Previous experience in either IT support, tutoring or demonstrating
* Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
* The ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms
* The ability to work both individually and as part of a team
* The ability to identify and solve problems, multi-task and enjoy a challenge
